Arthur Young traveled to France's country side before anywhere else on his journey through France.
He went to the country thinking there was only farmers but he found lots of noble manors with rich people who didn't pay tax (they believed they payed tax in their blood, metaphorically) he hated this as he was a farmer and believed that the nobles were a disgrace.

The peasants that worked other peoples land had to pay half of what they had each year to that local land owner.
After they had to pay tax and to the church there wasn't much left.

The tennis court oath was a pledge signed by the third estate on the 17th of June 1789 (after they were locked by louis the XVI from the debating chambers)
When this was the first time that citizens formally opposed Louis the XVI.

A National guardsman made an oath, signing The Declaration of the Right of Man. It was passed by the national assembly on the 26th of August 1789.
The declaration that the Guardsman signed stated some very amazing things for the time, such as: All men have equal rights, people are innocent until proven guilty, people have the right to speak their mind and tax should be based on how much you can pay.
This declaration only mentioned Men but not women.
Even though women had some rights, they didn't have as many as men.
