Letter To Prime Minister
Mr. Robert Arthur Talbot Gascoyne Cecil Ocean Beck

Dear Mr. R. Cecil,
I am an Australian citizen and I believe that our Australian soldiers came to your country to help out with the second Boer War, this is why I believe that what happened to Lieutenant Murrant was wrong and can not happen again to any other man in such an admittedly unfair situation. Murrant had no option but to kill those people or be killed, the act of treason is a dangerous one but a man can not suffer or be put to death from what he is told to do at what was practically gunpoint.
Not only is this wrong but, as I have previously said, unfair and I am writing this letter in hope of at least a letter of apology and for you to publicly acknowledge that what had happened was wrong. For a man to be put to death from the death sentehcnce in court, which is medieval and should be completely abolished as no one truly deserves to die instead of being rehabilitated, for a crime that he was guilty for but had no other option but to do is a disgusting waste of life and absolute disrespect to the man's family and friends.
While being commanded to kill those POW's from his superior, he knew that chain of command is extremely important in a war and so he abided by his commanders orders and shot and killed those people. I am not trying to state that he is innocent, he killed those people, what I am trying to bring across is the fact that he should have not been punished for something that wasn't even his decision nor should he have been punished for something that he had to do. I hope that my words ring in your mind and you consider what I have said, thank you for reading what I have to write.
Kind Regards,
Ocean Beck
