National Sorry Day
I believe it was the right thing for Kevin Rudd to have apologised as there has been a lot of wrong doing to the indigenous population and I believe more than just a spoken apology is required but it is a good start as it means they have recognised the things that they have done wrong to the population. The government funding to indigenous projects and operations is a very good thing and the government is well on track to fixing the mistakes it has in the past because if you think about it, just the fact that they are recognising all the problems that they had created is a good thing, much better than not apologising and disagreeing that any wrong-doings had happened.
Nursing
Aboriginal health is a big issue in Australia. Since Australia is so culturally biased, aboriginals are still financially unbalanced, leaving them unable to afford most living necessities, resulting in bad health issues. Nurses and doctors are needed in these places to raise the health and general awareness of health issues. These nurses should be very appreciated throughout Australia for their selfless and thoughtful occupation, let alone the fact that they are choosing to do it in order to assist Aboriginals and their health issues. The health issues ain these communities are particularly different to the ones that would happen in a non-aboriginal community.
Sorry Song
This song was written after Kevin Rudd’s Sorry Day speech were he announced an apology on the behalf of the general government and on the behalf of Australia itself. This song is explaining the story of the stolen generation and how the aboriginals felt about it. It encourages the non-Aboriginals of Australia to say sorry to the aboriginals for the disregard of their people, their culture and their rights.
