Tent Embassy
The tent embassy in the 1970’s in Canberra was significant because it was one of the first times that the indigenous community of Australia opposed the Australian government so openly and to that extent. The government decided that the Embassy had to be stopped before it got too serious, they turned the Australian police against the people that were protesting by the tent embassy. Eventually the embassy was stopped by the police but they had created significant awareness to their cause. Watch the video below, this will give some more background information on The tent embassy.
